Having earned my certificate as an Ayurvedic Nutritionist from My Vinyasa Practice in 2023, I am thrilled to provide Ayurvedic Consultations as part of my holistic healing service offerings. Having pursued an Ayurvedic lifestyle for years, sharing this gift with others was the only natural progression in my journey to help others help themselves. Working with the seasons and our body's natural rhythms allows us to operate more harmoniously with our natural environment and thus become more in tune with our most authentic selves.
What is Ayurveda?
The sister practice to yoga, Ayurveda works from the inside out. Ayurveda provides a framework to structure our lives in a meaningful way that allows us to work with, not against, the natural cycles and rhythms of the physical plane. Giving a structure to guide our choices in what we eat, when we eat, and how we eat to bring better balance to our day to day lives, Ayurveda is, in essence, food as medicine.
We are all born with a unique constitution and as we grow and experience the world, that constitution becomes imbalanced. Our constitution is derived of the three doshas, which are made up of the elements of the physical world (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether). Using the notion of like increases like, Ayurveda allows us to bring ourselves back in line with our natal constitution by reducing and increasing certain types of foods and flavors.
Ayurveda is a lifestyle, not a diet. Choosing to pursue a more Ayurvedic lifestyle may impact your weight or appearance, or it may not. It will help you feel healthier, more balanced and more confident from the inside out. Because it is a lifestyle, there is no need for extreme restrictions (like no carbs or fat) or any need for guilt if you "cheat" or "fall off the wagon." You can enjoy the things you like and avoid those you do not. It is about balance through and through.
What can I expect from an Ayurvedic Consultation?
As an Ayurvedic Nutritionist, I will work with you to uncover your constitution at birth and the imbalances you currently experience. Based on the results of our assessment, I will draw up a plan for you with recommendations for daily activities, adjustments in the foods and flavors you consume, and when and how you consume them. We will meet again where we will discuss the recommendations I have for you and go over any questions or concerns you may have. I will follow up again in about a month to check on your progress and I am always available for further work.
Again, this is a way of life, not a diet. The concepts of cheat days or breaking your "diet" are irrelevant. Some days you will be more in tune and other days will offer more discord, such is the way of life and there is no need for harsh judgement.
All details of your assessment will be held with the strictest confidentiatlity.
